This was the 12th song recorded for the album. And this song is about tarantulas fucking, I don’t know. This was a very early song recorded in the sessions but I placed it here, after the beautiful breakup suite, because it felt narratively cohesive in regards to dating again after a breakup. It reminds me a lot of Dr. Rock, one of my favorite Ween songs. The idea came because I edited a few lyric videos for this musician Shaun Spurgeon a while ago. In the intros to these videos, he talks about how he’s really proud to be from Coarsegold, CA. I had never heard of this place and was very curious about it because he said it’s the greatest place on earth. One of the main things that came up on Wikipedia is this place has a HUGE tarantula population and every mid-October to mid-November the town is apparently “full” of tarantulas when they come out to mate and there’s a tarantula festival where they have tarantula racing.

Some of the females actually kill the males after mating.
Yep, it’s spider sexy time ;)
It’s the stuff science fiction movies are made of!
One time I was going down Fourth Street, and it’s, it was right in the middle of the road, just walking like a car would.
Male tarantulas live only about three to four years while the females can actually live for more than thirty years.
Because they kill the men!
